Asexual People

I think there have always been asexual people and they are no better or worse than routinely or hypersexual people. I think there has been a stigma in a consumerist society about people who don’t consume or play. For many periods of my life, I have felt asexual. In the eighties and nineties, during the height of the AIDS pandemic, there was a tendency to associate asexuality with puritanical abstention but they are not the same thing. Many people have little or even no sexual desire and that may be for many different reasons or perhaps this is simply a fact. Certainly people shouldn’t feel pressure to be sexual when they are not... that can lead to those people forcing themselves onto other people in order to prove that they are “normal”.
